Interactive Design: Dictionary Definition

Interaction Design is the discipline of defining the behavior of products and systems that a user can interact with. The practice typically centers around complex technology systems such as software, mobile devices, and other electronic devices. However, it can also apply to other types of products and services, and even organizations themselves. Interaction design defines the behavior (the "interaction") of an artifact or system in response to its users.

Interactive Design: My Understanding

Interactive design is concerned with the behaviour of products or systems. How that product or system works and how people can interact with it. A lot of an interaction designer's time will be spent defining these behaviours.

-Simple layout
-Centered orientation
-Design the content, not the page
-3D effects, used sparingly
-Soft, neutral background colours
-Strong colour, used sparingly
-Cute icons, used sparingly
-Plenty of white space
-Nice big text

Each site has its own creative flare on how to navigate around the website. I believe by having this creative flar on how to interactive with the website encourages the user to stay on that site for a longer periode of time, this is simply because it makes the experiance more interesting, comparing to the websites that have the standard Click Here links.
